No. Copilot works inside the permissions each user already has and grants nobody new access. What it does do is make already-shared files much easier to find, which is why we review your SharePoint and OneDrive sharing settings before switching it on.

Copilot Chat comes with eligible Microsoft 365 plans at no extra cost and is grounded on the web. The paid license adds Copilot inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams, and grounds it in your organisation own content.
